Grilling season is once again upon us. Time to stock up on ground beef, hotdogs, BBQ chicken and anything else you like to throw on the grill.
I love to grill. You can’t beat it. But, like with anything fun, there is usually some kind of clean up or tear down that comes with it. Nothing can be all fun and games, right?
What if there were a robot that could handle the cleaning of your grill for you? An automatic grill cleaning robot. Yeah, that is a thing and we are going to discuss it in this Grillbot review.
Grillbot PROS
- Easy to set up and use.
- Adequate batter that is also rechargeable.
- Brushes are removeable and dishwasher safe.
- Works well on most grill surfaces.
- Cool looking.
Grillbot CONS
- A bit expensive for what it does.
- Has trouble reaching corners and other areas.
- Very loud.
- Can fall off the grill if there is no lip or lid.
How Does The Grillbot Cleaning Robot Work?
The Grillbot is a fairly simple device. You place the robot on your grill, push the button, and watch it go to work. The 3 brass brushes spin rapidly as the device moves around the surface of the grill.
The Grillbot can be used on a cold or hot grill, just don’t use it will the grill is actually on or there are flames.
The brass brushes work very well to chip away at and remove built up residue, old food, and general grill debris.
The Grillbot is not a smart robot. It doesn’t have fancy GPS or mapping and you can’t control it from a remote or an app. There is one button to push and that starts and stops the device.
Speaking of it not being smart. Don’t expect any fancy sensors that keep the Grillbot from falling off your grill. If there is not a pronounced lip on your grill, you will need to close the lid. If you have no lid, then you really can’t use the Grillbot. It will fall off the side of your grill.
How Do you Clean The Grillbot’s Brushes?
The Grillsbot’s brass brushes can all be removed and they are dishwasher safe.
Be sure to use gloves when you remove the brushes because they can injure you. Also, be sure the battery is removed from the robot before you try to remove the brushes.
The fact that you can throw the brushes in the dishwater is definitely a huge pro for the Grillbot.
How Much Does The Grillbot Cost?
You can purchase the Grillbot automatic grill cleaning robot for $109 on Amazon.
You can also pick up a set of replacement brass brushes for just $15.
Does The Grillbot Really Work?
Yes, the Grillbot actually does a decent job at cleaning your grill. The brass brushes really do well at removing charcoaled remains and leftover food pieces.
It should be noted that this is made for flat top grills or skillet-style set ups. You need to have a tradition, grated grill for the Grillbot to be affective.
Is The Grillbot Worth It?
The Grillbot automatic grill cleaner is a very cool idea and a pretty neat robot. However, it isn’t fully autonomous, it doesn’t have many safety precautions, and there is no scheduling, mapping, or any other tech-filled goodies. When you match that with the price of $109, it isn’t the best value for your buck, in my opinion.
Having said that – if you just want a tool that helps keep your grill clean in between uses, and you don’t care about how fancy or advanced it is, then it can be a great tool.
The price is a bit much in my opinion, but the Grillbot will perform as expect, if you just expect it to scrape the crap off your grill. And honestly, I don’t really know how advanced of a robot you’d want cruising around on your grill.
So, for me, I would not purchase the Grillbot. While it does a good job on keeping your traditional grill clean, the value just isn’t there in my eyes. I’ll spend the 5 minutes with my brush.
